Dawn Wind's Valiant Mae

Triple S Red Shadow

Reddy is from Painter's Triple S Ranch in Nebraska. She sold us on Bob and Jan's breeding program. She is laid-back and kind, yet agile and cowy. She has been worked around cattle in rough country and had a rope swung on her. She takes everything in stride. Reddy is the boss of all our horses, yet is never a bully.

Red has shown herself to be a good mountain horse, a steady lesson mount for our grand-daughters, and a good producer. In 2010 we will be starting her daughter, Dawn Wind's Valiant Mae. By good producer, I mean she produces her strong genetic type and disposition. Red is over 21% Red Correll breeding, so is also high percentage Winterset breeding. This adds to her value here as we want that good mind, the soundly-built conformation, and the quiet temperment.

Triple S Berry Knox

Berry came to us from Painter's Triple S Ranch in Nebraska. She is a handy, willing mare who travels well in rough country. She has a steady mind when encountering rattlesnakes, and works cattle calmly. On her only trip to a horseshow, as a green colt, she was push-button and inquisitive. In 2006, Berry produced a palomino colt, Dawn Wind's Fort Knox, whom we are quite happy with. He is now at home with Dawn Tucker in Idaho. She says he is beautiful and sweet-natured. Dawn ponies him on her trail rides with friends.

Berry's 2007 foal is a stunning clear palomino filly who has Berry's strong hip and laid-back shoulder. Raspberry is friendly and easy to be around. We can't make up our minds whether to keep her or not. She's awfully nice. Berry has become a lesson horse for children. She is quiet and patient. Our broodmares have had saddlehorse duties due to the economy. Next year Berry will be learning how to be a gymkhana mount. Already she is enjoying the games at a walk and trot.

This summer, Berry is a lesson mount for one of our grandchildren. Lindsey is learning to think like a horse and Berry is very willing to help her. Daily they can be seen working together in the barnyard. Berry loves the long brushing and scratching sessions, and patiently listens to Lindsey's cues while under saddle in the ring.

Moriah's Suprise

Prize is our darling retiree. She is unable to carry a foal but loves to carry children. Our neighbor children, who are 10 and 11, are her greatest admirers. She is teaching them to be horselovers and they are learning to ride with skill and pleasure. It is the perfect situation. At 19, Prize is going strong.

Anakus Emma Royal

Emma recently came to us (fall 2007) from Merideth and Tony Sears' AFS Morgans in Wyoming. Although not of their breeding program, she came with their trademark of kind treatment and gentle saddle-training. We are so happy to have this inquisitive yet calm mare in our band. She is a typical smooth-bodied Morgan with a laid-back shoulder, short cannons, good feet, and beautiful Morgan face! Her disposition shows through like a true Morgan gem!

Emma is a strong source of Knox Morgan, Ben's Daisy, Linsley, Troubadour of Willowmoor, Jubilee King, and his grandson, Easter Vermont. Thank you to Emma's breeder, Julia De Vlieg, for making this thoughtful cross (Mtn Hi Flint X Whitedove Sierra Royal).

Emma produced her first foal in 2009, a liver chestnut colt. He is a big, friendly, quiet fellow. Emma has shown herself to be a calm, sane trail mount so that temperment seems to be transmitted. In 2010, she goes to the court of Braveheart of Timespast.

Farceur's Valentine

This elegant mare is of rare and pure California breeding. She is of old working bloodlines and displays the disposition and beauty that made her ancestors so desirable. She will be crossed with our Braveheart of Timespast to enhance her Lippitt background and add to her typiness. Through Valentine, we plan to preserve the Old World Morgan type and purity. producing foals for family pleasure horses and using horses.

We feel indebted to the Hazelwood women, of Richwood Morgans, for breeding and preserving this line of true Morgan horses. Your knowledge and wisdom, and unwillingness to follow the fads is one of the reasons there are undiluted Morgans of this quality still in existence. Thank you!
